About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and Susa Australia (ABN 57 201 086 625) every time you buy something from this website or through our wholesale channel.
By placing an order — retail or wholesale — you confirm that you've read these Terms, that you're at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian placing the order for you), and that you're ordering for personal or bona-fide resale use, not for illegal resale or scam purposes.
These Terms sit alongside our Privacy Policy. Where they conflict, the Privacy Policy wins for anything to do with personal information.
Products & prices
Every candle sold by Susa Australia is handpoured in small batches in Darawank NSW. This means:
- No two candles are identical. Colour, surface texture, and the position of the wick may vary slightly batch to batch. This is the nature of handmade goods, not a defect.
- Scent strength varies. We use between 8% and 10% fragrance load by weight. If a scent reads softer or stronger than you expected, it's still within the intended range.
- Burn time estimates are averages. Actual burn time depends on how long and how often you burn each session, draughts, wick position, and ambient temperature.
Prices
All retail and wholesale prices on the site are in Australian dollars (AUD). Susa Australia is not currently registered for GST, so prices do not include GST and tax invoices are not issued. Shipping is calculated at checkout.
We reserve the right to change prices at any time. If you've already placed an order, the price you were charged at checkout is the price you pay — we won't retroactively invoice you more.
If a product is listed at a clearly incorrect price due to a site error (for example, a $59 candle showing as $5.90), we may cancel the order and refund you in full. We'll always contact you first.
Ordering & payment
When you place an order you'll receive an automated confirmation email. This is a receipt, not an acceptance of the order. We accept your order when we email you a shipping notification — at that point, the contract between us is formed.
If we can't fulfil an order — because an item has sold out, because we suspect fraud, or because the shipping address is outside the regions we service — we'll email you and refund any payment in full.

- Apple Pay / Google Pay via Stripe
- Afterpay via Stripe (AU customers only — see the Afterpay page)
- Bank transfer for wholesale orders on approved terms
Payment is taken at the time you place the order. For Afterpay, the first of four instalments is taken at checkout; the remaining three are taken fortnightly.
Shipping & delivery
We ship Australia-wide from Forster NSW. Orders placed before 12pm AEST, Monday to Friday are dispatched the same business day. Orders placed outside those windows go out the next business day.

We don't currently ship internationally. If you're outside Australia and desperately want a candle, email us and we'll tell you honestly whether it's feasible.
Returns, refunds & the burn guarantee
Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply to everything we sell, and nothing in these Terms reduces those rights. For the full returns policy — including exactly how to initiate a return — see the Returns page.
Change of mind
If you've received a candle and simply changed your mind, you can return it unopened and in original gift-box packaging within 14 days of delivery for a refund of the product price (not shipping). Return postage is at your cost.
Damaged or faulty on arrival
Email a photo within 14 days of delivery and we'll ship a replacement free of charge, or refund — your choice. You don't need to return the damaged candle.
Wholesale orders
Wholesale orders are non-returnable except in case of fault or transit damage. See the Wholesale page for full trade terms.
Safe use of candles
Candles are a live flame. You're responsible for using them safely once they leave our workshop. In particular:
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children, pets, curtains, draughts, and anything flammable.
- Place on a heat-resistant, level surface. The vessel will get hot.
- Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Stop burning when roughly 1cm of wax remains in the vessel.
Every candle ships with a care card that repeats these instructions. By buying from us, you confirm that you've read (or will read) them.
We are not liable for loss, damage, or injury arising from the misuse of a candle — for example, burning one unattended. We will of course take responsibility for anything caused by a genuine manufacturing fault.
Intellectual property
All content on this site — photography, copywriting, scent names, visual identity — is the copyright of Susa Australia unless otherwise credited. Please don't reproduce it commercially without asking.
If you're a stockist, editor, stylist, or content creator and you'd like to use our images — email us. We'll almost always say yes; we just like to know where they're going.
Accounts & wholesale access
Our wholesale area is protected by a PIN issued only to approved stockists. By using a PIN, you agree to:
- Keep it confidential and not share it with parties outside your business;
- Use wholesale pricing only for genuine resale through your own approved retail channels;
- Not onsell candles at below our recommended retail price without our prior written agreement.
We may revoke wholesale access at any time if any of the above is breached.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability in relation to any product is limited, at our option, to:
- replacing the product;
- supplying an equivalent product;
- refunding the price you paid.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profits, lost weekends, or the inability to throw the exact mood you had in mind at a dinner party.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute will be heard by the courts of New South Wales, unless we both agree otherwise.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect when you placed your order is the version that applies to that order. Any changes take effect from the date shown at the top of this page for orders placed after that date.
